Penge CC will be hosting club sessions at the iconic Herne Hill Velodrome again in early 2017. From social riders who just want to have a go, to those of you who might even be racing next year, there will be something for everyone.
The club will run two-hour long coached sessions from 11am – 1pm on the following Sundays:
26 February 19 March 9 April
Suitable for adults and juniors of all abilities
The track time is for both adults and juniors. If you have never ridden track before the coaching will be focused on giving you the skills you’ll need to ride on the velodrome with confidence. Riders with more experience can push themselves to learn more advanced skills and to develop fitness.
Herne Hill is not as steeply banked as other velodromes so it is a great place for beginners to ride. Track cycling is a lot of fun and a chance to enjoy the feeling of just riding with no traffic, pot-holes, hills, turns or other distractions. By the end of our series any riders who have caught the bug will have the skills to join in with the public training run at the velodrome throughout the summer.
Bike hire is included in the session price. The hire bikes have toe-clips, so ordinary trainers are fine to wear. If you want to use your usual cleats you will need to bring your own pedals. You must bring your own helmet and gloves. If you want to bring your own bike please make sure it meets the criteria shown on the website:
Book in advance for £14 per session.
On the day price is £16. Penge CC members may sign-in non-members on the day for £20. On the day entries are subject to availability.
