Go-Ride sessions are run entirely by volunteers, many of whom are parents. There are numerous roles to be filled and our sessions are on Saturday mornings at Alexandra Junior School. We are always looking for:
- coaches
- organisers
- sign-in teams
- welfare officers
- public relations administrators
- refreshments / tuck-shop helpers
At each session you can volunteer the subs are reduced to £1 for your children.
Coaching
Coaching is very rewarding for cycling advocates who are willing to help at sessions or at youth road rides. Our coaches play a vital role in helping young riders develop the skills they’ll need all the way from riding a balance bike through to cycling at competitive levels.
Becoming a coach for our club enables you to develop a professional qualification, and enables us to offer more children the opportunity to enjoy cycling at every level.
Training and qualifications
Full training is provided with British Cycling, beginning with the level 1 coaching course. When this is completed, there is scope to move into specific disciplines through continuous professional development. Once qualified you can coach adults as well – so these skills can be used throughout our club.
If you’re interested you’ll also need to complete a first-aid course and be DBS-checked. All fees for the coaching and first-aid course will be paid for by the club. All we ask for in return is a commitment to coach about 3 sessions per school term with us. Please take a look round our youth section.
