Venue…..
Penge Congregational Church, 172 High Street, Penge,
London, SE20 7QS
Ring the No.1 Bell
Time: 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Our plan is to run 2 sessions per night. One aimed at our older Go Ride riders, family members and beginners from 7:00 ‘ish. Then a second longer session from 7:50 (for 50 mins to an hour), which will be a bit harder.
Don’t worry if you cant make the 1st session, as the beauty of turbo training is that we can tailor the session to fit the individual (means I’ll let you take it a bit easier!)
Cost: Youth (under 16) £2.50 & Adult £5.00
If an adult participates with their child (not necessarily in the same session) the youth rider goes free. Also if you bring your own turbo trainer then you are entitled to a £2 discount. All the subs go to meet the venue hire, any money we make will be used to buy new turbos for the club. If anyone wants to donate or lend us a turbo please get in touch.
What do you need to bring?
A bike….. with road tyres; clipless pedals or old style toe clips, if possible (makes using the turbo much easier and beneficial), although you can do a session without them.
Wear shorts and bring a towel and a drink (as it gets a bit hot and sweaty)
What is Turbo Training?
Its like using an exercise bike, but far better as you do the session on your own bike so the training is more like riding on the road. It helps you improve your riding position and style whilst developing your core muscles. And of course it gets you fitter!!!
The way we run the training sessions allows you to ride at your own level whilst still being in the group. So, instead of being dropped at Elmers End and never seeing the the front till the tea stop at Westerham, you can ride and joke with the whole group for the entire session.
If you are interested in attending, please can you let me know so I can get an idea of numbers and make sure we have enough turbo trainers. Also, please let me know if you are bringing your own trainer.
Many thanks and hope to see you one Monday evening…..
