L2B, Bedgbury & Continental Raid – weekend review 17/6/13

Sunday 16th June saw the Penge CC members spread far and wide on the London to Brighton ride, cycling in the Wiggle French Revolution day trip to France and down at the Bedgebury Mountain bike course near Lamberhurst in Kent. On top of this we run our first split Go Ride sessions with Go Ride at Alexandra Junior School and and Cyclo Cross training session at the Bethlem Royal Hospital.

Father’s Day saw fifteen kids and adults riding the 6 mile family mountain track, twice.

We stopped off mid way for hot chocolate and bacon rolls. Then back on the bikes for more weaving through the trees. After those inclines (hills really), the kids set off with some of the adults on the red route back to the visitors centre and lake. All the young cyclists were energetic, enthusiastic and not one had a scratch at the end of the two hours cycling. Not much pushing of bikes up those hills and some very speedy descents under the watchful eye of our coaches. After all that fun and effort we all deserved Katey’s caramel frosted banana cake before the trip home. Especially so for David, our club Chairman, who cycled the London to Brighton, then across country and joined us, his wife and kids for the last circuit of the Bedgebury track – over 110 miles in total.

Check out the facebook pages for photos of David, Conrad, Yvonne, Andy & Louisa’s Brighton ride. There’s already much anticipation for Conrad’s upcoming ride report………..
