Dear Riders,
Just a reminder, the first CCT session starts next week 6-7.30pm. Winter has come around fast!
Don’t forget to bring the consent form to your first session – CCT Consent 2016-17, and dress for the weather. If any of your club mates are interested, please ask them to get in touch with me.
Hope to see many of you next week.
Thanks,
Jason
Dear Riders,
I hope everyone has enjoyed their summers. It’s come around fast, but the first of the Herne Hill Velodrome Winter Club Cluster Training sessions is in a months time! The first session will be 4th October in a new time slot, 6-7.30pm on Tuesday evenings, then running every Tuesday evening (except 27th December for a Christmas break), up until 28th March. The reason for this change is to avoid the Youth Track League at Lee Valley which clashed with the session for the last 2 years and affected numbers. For riders from further afield who may struggle to make this time slot, the Cyclopark session also runs on Tuesdays, 7.30.9pm. Their first session will be later in October – lukeanderson@britishcycling. org.uk will be emailing details to local riders in the next week or two.
For those who haven’t been to the session before, they are physically challenging road bike sessions, working on fitness, race techniques and skills, and form a crucial part of your winter training. Over the last few years the Herne Hill sessions, run by the British Cycling Go-Ride and Foundation coaches, along with club coaches has attracted around 30 riders each week. More information, including a few video clips are available here: http://www.bc-regions. co.uk/southeast/index.php?cID= 122
Riders need to be members of Go-Ride clubs, and to be in Youth B, Youth A or Junior categories in 2017 (born between 2004 and 1999). These are winter sessions on an all weather facility, so please dress appropriately, with arms and legs and extremities covered, multiple layers, and bring a rain cape. Sessions will only be canceled if there is ice on the track – I can’t remember cancelling one in the last 2 years!
Each session costs £3, and you will need to bring a completed consent form (attached) to your first session. Please aim to attend sessions as regularly as possible as each session will build on the previous one as a series.
Any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jason
