Penge is just 15 minutes by bike from Herne Hill Velodrome. The last remaining venue from the 1948 Olympics, HHV underwent a major refurb recently and is a thriving and vibrant race venue. A handful of our riders represent the club in the summer track league, veterans’ and women’s leagues and we are always looking for more to join the team. Racing at HHV focuses on bunch events like the scratch, points and devil races.
An induction is required, followed by a few coached skills sessions and a test of your track sense. Then you’re ready to race! HHV can lend you a bike for these sessions so you can try it out before committing.
A lot of people also ride the track for fitness without ever racing. Take a look at the Herne Hill velodrome’s website to see the sessions on offer, including for younger riders and school holiday clubs.
