How did you get into cycling and what made you join Penge CC?
I got into cycling by going on my bike with my stabilisers and doing races with my Dad while he was running, and I was cycling. I saw children cycling in Crystal Palace Park crit races and decided I wanted to do that.
I joined Penge CC because I really love cycling and I want to get as good as I can at it.
How did you find out about Penge CC and GoRide?
My Dad’s friend told him about the Tour de Penge, we did the Tour, and someone told us about the Penge cycle club. A month later I started at the club.
What was your first day at GoRide like?
I was very nervous, but after about 15 minutes I enjoyed it, the coaches and children were all really friendly.
How has GoRide help you progress?
It has helped my progress a lot, and if I hadn’t gone, I wouldn’t have been as good as I am now and won races.
Do you think Penge CC is a good club for girls and women?
Yes, I think it is good for girls because it doesn’t really matter who you are you can just go to the club and have fun
What advice would you give to someone getting into cycling or thinking about joining GoRide?
Keep on practising, and you will love it, and then you will be able to go really, really quick and it will feel brilliant.
Tell us about your first race?
I was really, really nervous because I didn’t know if I would get a good start or know where I would come. I came 5th and I really, really enjoyed it because I felt really good every time I overtook someone.
What is your proudest achievement in cycling so far?
Winning four races at the Crystal Palace Crit.
What was the most enjoyable thing you did on a bike this year?
Riding on a causeway by the sea on holiday at 26 miles an hour.
What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve done on a bike?
I took two hands off my handlebars at 21 miles an hour. It was a bit scary, I won’t do it again as it’s such a big risk of falling off and hurting myself and then I wouldn’t be able to ride a bike for ages
What’s next? What crazy thing would you love to do one day on your bike?
I want to go down the Alpe d’Huez as quickly as I can.
